Headquartered in Paris, France, luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton began as a producer of trunks in 1854. Today, they continue to be known for their signature leather goods, handbags, and luggage.
The company's iconic Monogram Canvas design can be considered the first designer label in contemporary history; the design was created in 1896 by Vuitton's son Georges and was intended to prevent counterfeiting. Ironically, Louis Vuitton has become the most counterfeited brand in fashion history, with just over 1% of all items branded with the Vuitton logo not counterfeit.
The Spring 2012 Louis Vuitton runway show featured a palette of pastels and girlish clothes that were optimistic and fun. While many gorgeous handbags graced the runway at the end of Paris Fashion Week, the Louis Vuitton Crocodile Old Speedy Flap was a flagship piece of the show. At $33,000, it's a talking piece that only the highest ranks of the fashion elite will be carrying.
A global status symbol, carrying to Louis Vuitton is largely understood to convey that you have both fashion sense and the bank to back it up. Consumer Expressions does have a reward program for all kinds of consumers, but you only need to complete one short survey to be entered to win a grand prize of $3,500 in Louis Vuitton bags.
