Founded in 2007, Celebrate Urban Birds is a year-round project developed and launched by The Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Its primary purpose is to reach diverse urban audiences who do not already participate in science or scientific investigation.
Another of their goals is to collect high-quality data from participants that will provide them with valuable knowledge of how different environments will influence the location of birds in urban areas.
Their participants range in age from preschoolers and kindergartners to seniors, and more than 75% have little or no experience with birds.
The Celebrate Urban Birds kit includes a welcome letter, silhouette poster with cool facts, Celebrate Urban Birds identification poster, data sheet, tally sheet, "Zero Means a Lot!" sticker and Lemon Queen Sunflower Seeds packet. Note: Sunflower seeds ship within the US only. Individuals can download their free kit. Organizations will receive one free kit when they sign up for the project.
Choose "on behalf of a class/organization/business" to have the kit mailed to you. Organization name required.
